Does it lessen the quality somehow? Does it make sex or love any worse? I really don't understand why it matters at all, but obviously, there are a lot of people out there who do seem to know, as they follow this practice. Please explain!

Some insecure people are prejudiced against fat people - and, since this is one of the last socially acceptable forms of bigotry, they will shoot their mouths off and say really mean and horrible things about large people.

When it comes to relationships, some people are really superficial, and they care more about the appearance of their partner than they do that person's character and heart.

it's not the most important thing in a relationship but it does count
when you're a couple it means that you chose each other regardless of faults and love each other
the thing is if you or your significant other have a weight problem( not just i'm a size 2 and want to be a size 0 issue)
i'm talking about being over weight or under weight, you need to stay healthy to have a healthy relationship with your spouse whether you're talking about being intimate or thinking about being healthy enough to live a better life while raising children
being healthy (which includes maintaining a certain weight, being physically active and having healthy skin) improves the quality of life and saves money, it also helps protect you from diseases which would be in the way of enjoying a long life the way you wish with your loved one.
it doesn't hurt that being healthy keeps you attractive esp in the eyes of your hubby :).

If you fall for the body only, then it does matter. If, on the other hand, you fall for the soul and the body, then it matter less. I know a lot of people who fell for the fatty one. Besides, large is beautiful, too. Unfortunatelly, we are generally victims of modeling industry!

heres my view on the subject. i know that being overweight is not advantageous to your health. im not going to run around telling everyone i think is overweight that they are going to die. but from my perspective being fit and active is something that i vale in a relationship. i had a girlfriend once that was 125 something when we met, and got up to 170ish at one point. the love ans sex werent any worse i would say but we definitely didnt get out much together and that was one of the things that drove us apart. so yes i dont judge everyone based on their looks, but it does help me determine partners because of the other qualities that i look for.

When I see a fat person I think they have too little respect for themselves (people will deny this but it's what I think) and I can't be with someone that doesn't respect themselves.
Also it is a sign of laziness and lack of consideration for their partner. They should keep in shape to keep their partner happy, if not to keep themselves happy.
