It is plausable that when you turn left the fuel in the tank all runs to one side, but you would have to be very low on fuel for this to happen. Do you notice if you hear the fuel pump whine at the same time? I think if you pulled the fuel tank down, and removed the pump assembly, you would find the cause of all your problems. If you had the tank down, you could check all your wires, hoses, and you could determine what is going on with a meter. I have a hunch you will find the culprit for all of your problems inside the tank. If not, at least you would be able to inspect all of wires, and hoses. You may find some burned wires inside the tank, as I have seen this before. I have even seen the wrong pump installed in the tank causing problems. You can pick up the whole unit at a junk yard, and have it repaired in no time. I would try to get all the fuel out of the tank before I tried to lower it down. This is a job for experienced mechanics, and you run a risk of having a fire, so have a fire extingusher handy when you do this. You have to do this in a well vented place also, so don't take any chances. Inspect all the wires all the way back to the front of the vehicle. If the car shuts off when you make a turn, you are either loosing power or the pumps capiability of picking up fuel. Any one could speculate to no end as to the cause, but the only way you will resolve the issue, is to drop the tank, and get to the problem.
Glad I could help you. Good Luck!!!

What turns off? The fuel tank indicator light? If so, it's because the gas sloshes around in the tak and the sensor inside the tank is happier when gas sloshes onto it.
