i bought a ps3 for my son, how do i know the ps3 is japan or us version?

Well call me crazy but this is a no brainer.

If it is purchased in the US and the box has ENGLISH writing and the manual is in ENGLISH, then I am going 2 take a leap and say it is the US version.

If it is purchased in JAPAN and the box has JAPANESE writing and the manual is in JAPANESE, then I am going 2 take a leap and say it is the JAPAN version.

They also dont even sell the Japan version in US...

Well, How Do You Mean By That?

The Box Should Mention It, Expecially On The Back..

Also, When You Open It Up, If It Plugs Into The Good Ole' American Outlet Plug, It's Surely A US Version..

If You Mean By Language, That Can Easily Be Set To English, And I Belive It Even Asks You What Language To Set When You First Boot It Up..
