Yeah, except for pardoning Nixon, I really didn't have any beef with the man. Something I can't say about most of the republican presidents of my time. I'm sorry to see him go actually. But then he's lived a long full life and it sounds as if he was in some pain for the last part. Goodbye Jerry.

My opinion?

Gerald R. Ford was a man that did the right thing in the right way at the right time - and got blasted for it.

He was a normal man, with foibles - that got laughed at for no real cause.

He was a simple guy who did his job well, with some dignity - and was then set aside by a fickle public.

Charismatic? Nope. Popular? Not Really. A good President? Yes... and sooner or later, the world and his own country will recognize it.

Thank you, Mr. President...God Give you Sweet Rest.

A decent, honorable man who served his country well and with distinction who had the foresight to NOT put America through a Nixon trial and to move on. Yeah, and I remember those WIN buttons (Whip Inflation Now).

Thanks, Mr. President. RIP.

Gerald Ford will be remembered as a good president, who brought our nation out of some dark days.

I do not personally remember much about him, but my parents were happy to see an end to the turbulence of the previous decade.

I remember Squeaky. I was just a kid then so I wasn't interested in the politics, but I can recall thinking the Secret Service agent was a brave man to grab her gun.

His book, when he was on the Warren Commission, called "Lee Harvey Oswald: Portrait of the Assassin" -- which automatically, somehow, made Oswald THE assassin without a trial.
It was like my Dad said at the time Oswald was shot (I saw it live on TV), "Now we'll never know who did it." To which I said "Why?" And he said "Because they just shot the suspect."
