Burma is well known for the wrong reasons! Burma is a beautiful country and given a chance to live there, I would pack my bags and go!
The reason Burma is not well known is because of an idiot called General Ne Win who was advised by other idiots to overthrow the then Prime Minister U Nu and run the country like a dictator! Burma was in those days a self sufficient country enjoying a much better standard of living than say India or Thailand. The Brits always had a soft corner for Burma.
