For the last couple weeks, I've had this persistent problem with my computer.

I keep getting the "Blue Screen of Death", with Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error as the error code, and it happens sometimes up to 5-6 times a day.

I hear a high frequency noise with a clicking; a friend said it is most likely the hard drive turning on and off.

I've been told it might be a faulty hard drive, or a bad motherboard.

But lately something else has started to happen. Whenever I open/close a page or move something or do anything, my sound starts to get static and it starts to slow down the music playing, and sometimes stops. Then my USB mouse randomly turns off and I have to keep unplugging/replugging it in to get it to work.

I know there's some out there that are much more knowledgeable about computers than I (and others around me) happen to be, so I hope someone can provide me with some direction to fixing this problem...

This is one off those questions that is easy to answer with the computer on a workbench and very difficult to answer otherwise.

That being said I would say it's your HDD or Mainboard.

A Hard Disk Drive "clicking" will generally fail completely within hours of the symptoms appearing. So if it's been happening for a couple of weeks It probably not the HDD, and my finger would be pointing at the Mainboard.

But as I said you need the machine on a workbench with replacement parts to swap in and out.

Consider taking it to a competent repair facility it will save your sanity.

The problem is most likely because of your hard drive or your power supply. Backup all your data and get a new hard drive. You can do a fresh Window install on the new hard drive or use a backup app to clone your data to the new hard drive. Get rid of the old hard drive. If you still have problem after the installation, you need to replace the Power supply with a bigger one.

best thing to do is to back up your files, and start reformatting your HD, Blue Screen really activates when there's something wrong with the hard drive.

to be safe, try repairing your windows OS, if it occurs again, then reformat, if during the reformatting ans installation process, blue screen appears, then change your HD. It's not that functional anymore.

-ciao!!!

I know *exactly* the reason.

It is your harddrive. It is running erratic, it is about to crash. Before it comes to a screeching halt, lose your data, start a backup.

Get yourself a new Hdd, reinstall Windows - presto - everything will be back to normal.

Yes, you can thank me later. Waste no time - you are about to lose your hdd.

Try to copy all your important data's in CD or Pen drive or floppies. Your hard disk seems to be defective and if you need to change that all your data would be lost.

After copying your data's try to reinstall windows.
