OK right click on the my computer icon, then go to the properties, then advanced tab, then where it says performance click the settings tab, then when your in the performance options click the advanced tab in the middle, and down the bottom you will see virtual memory click the change button, and the computer will tell you what is recommended so change it to that and your all done.... you could also go and get some more ram from a computer store... which runs faster the virtual memory

Start> Settings> Control Panel> System>

Then Click on "Advanced"

Then Click on the Tab that says "Settings"

Then Click on the Tab that says "Advanced"

You will notice near the bottom that there is a "Virtual Memory" Box that contains a "Change" Button". Click that button.

Make sure that C: Drive is highlighted (it should be already), Go down to the button and click on "Custom Size" and put the initial size at 256 and the Max size at 1536 MB.

Once you put in the new numbers, click all of the "Apply" and "OK" buttons until the windows go away.

You will get a message stating that you will need to restart the system. You can restart then, or wait until later.

If you keep getting this error, you can increase the size even more, but THE BEST WAY to eliminate memory errors is to buy a memory card and just install it inside your machine because virtual memory is actually slower than physical memory because virtual memory requires a read/write from the hard drive, whereas installed memory doesn't.

You can also use a flash drive as your virtual memory
Good luck.

the only way to increase either of these memory devices would be to add new hardware. Your c drive is your hard drive and would be easy to re-install a bigger if you knew what you were doing. As for the Virtual memory, there are external memory items out there that would plug into a USB port and handle some of the memory. You could also buy some thumb drives or CD-RW and start copying information from your computer to these devices to clear up space and then do that regularly.

Lastly, I would get a new computer. What you are describing seems like an old computer with limited space. With the amount of information on websites these days 256 mb of RAM hardly cuts it.

C:/ force and D:/ force are walls made on the difficult disk force utilizing residing house windows memory partition device or made in the course of the installation of residing house windows. It does not recommend that there are 2 difficult disk drives on your computing gadget. that's by no ability concerning to the RAM(Random get admission to memory). there are procedures to develop the memory, yet right here basically 3 are shown- 1st approach- it extremely works once you've the different walls than C:/ and D:/; remove or decrease the different walls utilizing a partition device. 2d approach- once you've very a lot less area last on the HDD, then use cleansing approaches, they are efficient and could actual help you in freeing a lot of area. De fragment your force, and remove unnecessary software. some computing gadget manufacturers, for safe practices, make a fix partition. After making fix discs, you may delete that partition. third approach- If no different approach is functional, you may purchase and shop your files on CDs, DVDs, BDs, exterior HDDs, and so on.

Virtual Memory is memory using the available space on the C Drive, if the C Drive is running low on space, it will pop up saying it is running low on Virtual Memory.

You can either uninstall some big programs on the C Drive, or reconfigure the Virtual Memory to the D Drive, if you have one.

Windows uses something called a "Page File" for virtual memory. This page file is essentially what Windows uses when it swaps in and out of your physical memory for tasks. Physical Memory is also known as RAM. Your page file shouldn't be larger than your available physcial memory. So what you need first is check how much RAM computer has.

You can do this by clicking "Start" and choose "Control Panel."
Locate the "System" icon and double-click it to open it.
A window named "System Properties" appears.
The amount of physical memory (RAM) is indicated here and should say something like 256MB, 512MB, 1GB or approximate to that.
From there click the "Advanced" tab at the top of the "System Properties" window.
You should see 3 sections on this screen, "Performace" should be the first one.
Click the "Settings" button in the "Performance" section.
A window named "Performance Options" should appear.
Click the tab named "Advanced" in the "Performace Options" window.
You should see three sections on this screen.
The bottom section should be "Virtual Memory".
Click the "Change" button in the "Virtual Memory" section.
From here you should see three options in the section labeled "Paging file size for selected drive".
I recommend selecting "System managed size" if it isn't already selected then click the "Set" button, then "OK" on all the windows until you're back to the "System Properties" window.
You will be required to restart you computer in order for the settings to take effect.

If you "System managed size" was already selected, you may need more physical memory in your computer if you. If you wish to try a different setting you can enter values into the "Initial size" and "Max size" fields. I recommend not going over the amount of available physical memory in your computer as it may cause your computer to run slower. For example if you have 256MB of RAM in your computer I would set both the "Initial size" and "Max size" for 256, or if you have 512MB of RAM set them both to 512MB - this is referred to as a static size because it starts out that size and does not change. The reason you don't want to enter values larger than the available physical memory is because it creates a "fragmented" page file. A static page file equal to the amount of physical memory is far easier for the system to manage than a "fragmented" page file.
