After they did that show I was indented by questions and researched it for days. When I checked with Myth Busters they had nothing but inter-net rumours and I could find nothing anywhere in any records they had even thought of such a devices. They had tried rockets like these used by the British but found them a waste of resources. God Bless You and Our Southern People.

The Confederates and the North used the Hale Rocket. A British Design that was quite advanced for it's time it was spin stabilized and had a range of about three miles if everything went right.
The problems with the Hale rocket was
1 It used Black Powder as a propellant and had to be packed real tight to insure smooth continuous burning.
2 It had a really small warhead about 2 pounds of black powder. 3 it was as inaccurate as they come.
The rockets were removed from army service early but were used by the Navies until the end as signals.

Yes this is true to a point , they got the technology, but they did not invent it. It had been in existance long before the war started and there were some European Scientists that were involved and I cant remember which ones but they just invented it. I believe it you look into Leonardo Da Vinci you will see some incredible designs in technology and then have you ever read HG Wells, the war of the worlds, or the Nautillus? Captain Nemo?

Consider the Star Spangled Banner was written by the "rockets red glare" and that was long before the Civil War. Might happen.

Yes, it did. How it performed, however, is another matter.
The Confederates also used submarine warfare (for real). They recently raised the wreckage of one they used. It was powered by men turning a shaft which drove the propeller.
