Usually Dec. 26, but did not get around to it this year. We will probably take them down on the 28th. It is always before New Year's, though. I don't want to go into a new year still having to deal with chores from last year! Clean slate, baby!!

I start taking the Decorations of the home down on 2 Jan every year ... one or two sets of lights a day (because I wash/clean the sets, check the bulbs, then put them neatly back into the cabinet in the garage where I got them from).

We take the decorations down on Jan 7th or 8th, its family tradition because Jan 6th is The Day of the Three Wise Men,
FEAST OF THE THREE KINGS.
This is celebrated all over the world.
Best wishes

This is a very interesting question that is a "sister" to "when do you put your decorations up?" When I was a child our tree got decorated pretty close to Christmas Eve, if not on Christmas Eve. And we generally took it down the latest on "Epiphany" (January 6th or Eastern Orthodox Christmas Eve.) We went to the Philippines a couple of years ago in September and were surprised to hear Christmas carols in the airport upon arrival, and really amused to see the mix of Halloween and Christmas decorations in the Malls-- one that sticks in my mind was this giant Santa with a bunch of green witches with brooms circling him.... hilarious.
In her advanced years, my dear mother-in-law once left her Christmas cards up until July-- she derived a great deal of comfort in reading the messages from all her friends.
So, whenever you feel so inclined would seem to be the answer.
Happy New Year!

It all depends, I come from a family of 4 brothers and 5 sisters, so it all depends who's house we celebrate at. If it is not my house usually a couple days after christmas only because I have a small house and the tree is too big. But it is a family tradition to do it together.

We usually take the decorations and tree down at the same time, on the 30th or 31st. Definitely always before New Year's. That way, we can begin the new year off on a fresh start.
