This site is all about everything to do with Windows XP itself: www.theeldergeek.com

What you should do is reformat the hard drive first then install windows XP again instead of just reinstalling XP like a few other people said. What I would suggest is just spend the money and buy another hard drive. Its not that expensive and its the best way. When you reformat or reinstall windows on a hard drive it never completely erases everything on it. It usually leaves some fragments on their which can be traced back to the old OS that was on there. If you have any questions about it feel free to email me.

You have to boot from your Windows disk.
to do this, you need to girst enter your BIOS. Normally this would involve pressing DLT or F2 on startup. the first or second screen when you boot your computer, on the screen somewhere it should say press __ to enter setup. Thats the key you want to press.
In there, find the boot order, and change it to your CD drive, then simple save and exit, and boot from your disk.
It will first "copy files" then you will get to a screen to partition your hard drive. If you want to completely reformat(it will wipe ALL files from your hard drive, so backup any you want to save) press d to delete your current partition, then create a new one, and process with the installation.
You should be able to use quick format and be fine. It'll be MUCH quicker too.
After reinstalling windows, remember to install your video card drivers again. Or when scrolling in a web browser it will be very choppy. A lot of people forget this, then seek help to fix it. You also may need to install sound drives again to get any sound.
@- chulan The whole point of reformatting is to loose all of your data. It's a fairly simple process that anyone should be able to do as long as you know how to work a mouse and keyboard :)

Get into your bios (usually by pressing the F6 or Delete key) and set the bios to boot from cd instead of a hard drive. Put in your winxp cd and it will walk you through the process. You can also Google it and will find tons of infos on it.
