My 3 month old daughter Matilda has had a cradle cap since she was 1 month old. Nothing i've used has really kept it at bay. I was just wondering what anyone else has used to effectively help get rid of it. All replies appreciated and thanked in advance.

Use baby oil and the side edge of the soft baby's brush that comes in the little set you got when she was born. Rub the baby oil into her scalp until very oily, and then rub in a circular motion with the side of the brush until the scales start to come up. Just keep doing that until it all comes up. It will look a mess, and flake all over the place.

Her little scalp will be very red, and she might get a little fussy, but it really won't be hurting her. I'd keep right on until I got the biggest part of it up, and I'd do it every couple of hours until I got it all out. Then, I'd do that every other day or so, until it didn't come back at all.

The reason cradle cap comes is that oils and such are trapped on her scalp, mostly because us mamas are afraid to scrub the baby's scalp very hard. When we wash the hair and the scalp, give it a pretty good scrub, then rub it down with some baby oil, just a drop, and it will keep it from coming back.

My daughter had it when she was little, too, and that's the only way we kept it from coming back.

Good luck!

Really you dont have to do anything at all. Cradle cap is very common and will clear up on its own. Yes it takes some time and it can be months before it goes away but it will go away.

If you are concerned about appearance you can place some baby oil on her scalp about 30 minutes before you plan on giving her a bath and then just wash it out during bath time. This will help some it flake off. Don't rub hard.

They have special cradle cap kits but don't waste your money. They have oil, shampoo, lotion and a comb in the box and chances are you have all of these things at home already.

My son had this as well. He is now 7 months and it looks so much better.

I've found that Burt's Bees products to be really helpful. I used the Apricot Baby Oil (no mineral oil, which, can clog the scalp) about ten minutes before bathtime and a Shampoo Bar (as opposed to a liquid shampoo...whatever the ingredient in shampoo that makes it liquidy can also make it irritating to the scalp). It really made a difference. And, they both smell fantastic!

My sisters little boy had this very bad. He had it until he was 9 years old, finally when he started to have bald spots from it the doctor told them to use anti dandruff shampoo and it was gone. Ask the pediatrician sometimes they will tell you to leave it alone and if it is bad enough they will tell you it is okay to wash the babies head Very Carefully with a sponge with like denorex. You don't want to get this stuff in eyes.

Just rub a little baby oil on the spot.
I found cradle cap annoying to look at and I would try to pick at it every now and then, but I don't think that felt too good for my baby.
Cradle cap is normal and won't hurt your baby. If the baby oil doesn't work, just leave it-- it'll disappear eventually.

Gently massage baby oil into her scalp, then wash off with baby shampoo, gently rubbing it off with a face washer.

I've heard of bacon grease...seriously. But try to strain out the chunks. And then use one of those soft baby brushes and comb it through and just let it sit for a while.

All you can do is keep her head clean. There is nothing that you can put on it to not make it ever come back.

Use baby oil and a fine tooth comb
