First of all to these idiots who say take troy smith. you could get him in the second round. he's not a first round pick. Brady Quinn? Yea maybe if they had a O line. I'd say trade it for a lower pick and a second rounder. pick some o linemen. the lions O line is a mess, no qb can do good without time to pass the ball.

Brady Quinn could be an excellent addition at QB
Someone like Tra Battle from UGA could be an excellent addition at safety.
You also have to consider getting the running game going again, but choices of backs are slim pickings this year, with Adrian Peterson being just about the best one coming out this year.
Another good move could be to trade the pick for a proven back (maybe roll the dice and take a chance at Rickey Williams or trade it New Orleans for the Deuce, since they are stacked at running back there) By trading the pick and getting a veteran player, a few picks in return and maybe another player, the Lions could end up with a decent squad.
The Lions need proven veteran players to start to win again. They need another Barry Sanders like player and the need defense also.

Either Troy Smith or Colt Brennan. Troy Smith, as people have said, is from the same mold as Michael Vick, McNabb, and Vince Young. If you want a mobile quarterback, he should be you're pick. Colt Brennan is another good choice, if he leaves. I don't care if he's in the Northwestern Idaho Conference, you can't argue with his stats. He's put up way better stats than Brady Quinn or Troy Smith. Not to mention, he has better mobility than Brady Quinn. But, he was saying after the win over Arizona State that he was probably staying for his senior year.

NOBODY. They should trad down far enough to get several, and I mean several, offensive linemen to protect the quarterback and running backs. But Matt Millen is so dumb, they'll probably draft one of 2 quartebacks instead. Isn't it funny that Jeff Garcia can lead the Eagles to the playoff but was terrible in Detroit. Maybe it's because the Eagles has an offensive line to give him time to make a play. Naw, couldn't be that simple, could it. Detroit will never get better until they get an owner that cares about winning and not just lining his pockets every week with the almighty dollar. And why should he care about winning when the fans are stupid enough to continue to buy tickets to watch the other teams win. Detroit Lions fans are really, really stupid.

It has to be a quarterback. In that case, Troy Smith or Brady Quinn.

Detroit needs to start over in a bad way. Easiest way to do that is with a new face for the franchise and that's a QB. Kitna will be able to play while the rookie gets ready and with either of those 2 it's a lock that they'll be able to play in the NFL.

I think they choose Quinn though for 3 reasons: A) He played for Charlie Weis so he's been in a pro-style system. He should be more NFL ready. B) Troy Smith is from OSU....fans won't take to him as quick as they would Quinn. C) While Smith's the better athlete, Quinn's the better passer and could easily for a dangerous partnership with Roy Williams.

With the 2d %. interior the draft the Lions will %. the selection a million ranked OT interior the draft, Joe Thomas of Wisconsin. Thomas would not be the subsequent Orlando %. yet he would be a good NFL handle for many some years. Thomas is anticipated to start on the line from day a million and by using midseason, assume him to be conventional as a relentless participant who effectively protects the QB. a large addition for the Lions!

I don't think the Lions need a QB as bad as they need a "team." I think Kitna will do fine if the Lions fix their defense and running game.

I was watching the Hawaii vs Arizona State game, and Hawaii has many great players (but they don't get that much exposure since it's Hawaii). There's this guy named Nate Ilaoa (RB), he is HUGE, strong, and fast; he knocked down 5 Arizona State's guys while rushing (many times). He is 2 times thicker than Jerome Bettis but he CAN run FAST and hard to be tackled. Colt Brennan is far better than Troy Smith, I was shocked when I saw his passes (definetely BEST QB in the NCAA), but he is planning to stay one more year in college, so I don't think he is going to be drafted this year. Brady Quinn might be drafted by the Raiders (who are in need badly of a QB).

Brady quinn or Troy smith, either one.. Quinn is the prototype QB. Big, and strong armed, with decent mobility. Smith is the new Age QB. Cut in the Vince Young, Rothlisberger, Mcnabb, Mike Vick mold, Strong armed, but mobile like a running back and HARD to bring down. It just depends on what you want, i think theyre both going to be very good in NFL...but if i was picking, ild pick Smith, because of the Athleticcism, and for all those people who think he cant throw, thats a myth, his passing numbers and rankings are near the top in the nation at the QB position...CCompletion Percentage, Passes over 30 yards, Touchdowns, Passer Rating, his total yardage was low because Ohio state basically ran the ball down peoples throats as much if not more than they threw it.... Smith is the goods, and ild take him.

As for the Brennan guy from Hawaii..2 things about him, 1...He plays in the WAC, every team in that conference throws for 300 yards a game , they play little to no pass defensive in the WAC. HE THREW FOR OVER 400 YARDS 9 TIMES!! AND THREW FOR OVER 500 ONCE, CMON!! i doubt he'ld do that playing in the big ten, big 12, SEC or the Big East even... 2... June Jones is his coach and he may be the last coach on any level of football in this country running that sling it and fling it run and shoot offense, so Brennan plays out of the Gun ALOT... Colt Brennan is not an NFL QB. He's like Steve Sarkisian was all those years ago at BYU, a gimmick QB

For Tiffani below....
Colt Brennan plays at Hawaii in the WAC.. Troy Smith plays at Ohio State in the Big Ten, the second toughest conference in NCAA Div-1... end of comparison

There are three names that the rest answered that caught my eye. All three are quarterbacks. Brennan, Smith, and Quinn

1. Brennan is staying in Hawaii so cross him off
2 Brady Quinn is ovverated. dont believe me check his stats against Michigan and USC who are great teams (proves he cant play against the elite.
3. Troy Smith ..... finally someone good that is gonna be in the draft. He had to play Texas and did excellent and beat the same Michigan team that easily beat Quinn. Even if Brennan is going to go in the draft I would take Smith. If you think I am nuts, watch the championship game and he will be excellent P.S. I am a Michigan Wolverine fan so I know how good this boy is against the great teams.

As long as its NOT a WR then its a good pick. LOL Seriously though, I think we need a QB for the future. I think both Smith and Quinn would be good picks for us. I don't really have a favorite between the two personally, but Quinn is intriguing because of the mobility factor......
