Take a chance and just ask him if he is, since you are already out of the closet and he knows this and he will not be offended by your honest question. He may just hang out with the girls so society doesn't pick up that he is gay. Or second he maybe bi and thirdly he may be straight as a board and you are lucky enough to have a understanding friend that excepts you for you.

It really doesn't matter one way or the other. You sound young, but you could be any age. Us gays have drama in our blood. If he is gay, he'll either want to remain friends which will give you countless opportunities to try to convince him to change his mind. Thus setting the scene for you to have hours of crying binges. If you date, he'll cheat on you, or you'll think he is which will start the phone calls and blaming. If he is straight, you'll swear he lead you on. You can throw yourself onto the bed, tears pouring down your red cheeks and swearing revenge. Friends will have pity parties for you, with decorations matching your numerous outfits. So either way you will have at least a year of fabulous drama and a lifetime of story telling. And no one will ever measure up to your expectations of what life could have been with Mr. Almost Was. Have fun!

My opinion is that only your best friend knows this, and that you should not call him your best friend if you are afraid to ask him. Approach him gently and without judgment, and he should be open to discuss the subject.
For the record, I'm heterosexual, in a long term relationship, and have always throughout my life had more female friends than male friends.
And if a gay guy were to give me fashion tips... well, he probably knows much better than me.

Almost certainly. Most straight guys won't hang around a lot with someone gay in case they are perceived as being gay too. It's normal for gay guys to have quite a few women friends. Have you thought of asking him if he's gay? Why not?

There is only one way to be sure, it is to ask him.
Another option is that perhaps he is not quite gay but would be interested to have an experiece with him since you are a good friend of him. In today's fashion of putting labels everywhere that would make him bicurious. Ask him about it, you both might get a pleasant experience out of it.

well its hard to say. maybe he is? there are subtle signs here and there. i had a gay friend before. he had mostly only girl friends. he was always checking out guys. other questions you may want to ask yourself is does he deeply look into your eyes maybe. the only way to know for sure is to ask him. maybe flirt just a little. but don't jump to conclusions. just wait until he is comfortable and things should happen natural. good luck.

He might be, Is he dating any of the girls, do he talk about the girls as if he's interested in them. He probably hasn't come to terms with his sexuality but feels comfortable being around people who he can relate to. Maybe you should talk about boys in his presents, see how he reacts, he may get unease around you though even if he is gay, he might get quiet or change the subjects that's what I did around my gay friend who was out but I was in the closet and hadn't came to terms with my sexuality. so that's why I'm telling you this.

If you have become best freinds than just ask him. If he knows you are then there should be no problem with it. I hope you even end up liking each other. I hope you can find happiness within each other. People should become friends before anything else. Good Luck

Can't judge by that...
There's no strong evidence or clear point here...
I have a friend (a guy) that has many girl best friends, and few guys. But he's straight.
I don't think someone's preference on their friendship points a clear view on their sexual preference.
