My combo drive is reading the CDs, writing the RCDs and rewriting the RWCDs but not playing DVDs. I have checked the wires or cables or whatever they called etc and checked the software, It is installed. I uninstalled it and installed again but no use. Then I format the whole hard disc but no use. Then I updated the software but no use. I checked it and set it again. The software tells that I am using Combo Drive but in My Computer in the Device Manager it tells that I am using CD ROM. The name of the company of my Combo Drive is LG Electronics.

is it detecting the dvd's if it is than you need the software to actually play them. Windows media player alone is not enough. you also need a dvd player. without one installed media player cannot decode the disk. you can download a free dvd player from www.download.com
2nd if the dvd player is not detecting the disk then the laser is faulty.

Well some of the cd drivers does not support some kind of cds well check with a different cd and you need a dvd driver to run a dvd cd

Go to add remove hardware, try to install the cd that came with it. Check to see if you have enough space on the harddrive check for memory availability. Good luck with that.

you probably need software to play your dvd like windows media player or power dvd 6...google it...make sure you actually have a dvd player! lol

in line with threat that the disk have been stepped forward at a greater moderen date than the samsung. if so that they gained't be recognized. attempt the oldest disk you have, one that has worked interior of thepersistent till now.
