when i am not on the computer for a certian amount of time it goes into sleep mode and i want it to stay on how do i do that???

try this it works
right click on your computers desktop=then properties=then click on the tab called screen savers then in the windoe check below if there is a button called power click on that after you click a power option window will appear check belore for power schemes and sellect always on in selection bar and apply your done and the other way is go to start settings control panel then on thjat control panel window look for power options and double click it when the screen apears under power schems select always on and your done

both ways works

Go Start,Control panel,Performance&maintenance,Power options. On the Power options properties screen choose Hibernate (uncheck the checkmark in the box if it's there) and Power scheme to set your options.

right click on desktop .click on screen save / power . tab
under settins for power scheme
set it to never turn off monitor /hard disk /system hibernates
too never . click on apply and ok

Go to control panel................ power management........... on power option dialogue box .......... turn off monitor, turn off hard disk, set never.
