Some people need to wait this long just to be ready. Fewer divorces when you're really ready.

If someone at 34 feels truly ready to share their life with another person, while realizing that there will be sacrifices along the way could probably have a successful go at it. After 34, one usually wants to settle down and find a companion that will offer both of you a much more fulfilling life. There is absolutely nothing more fulfilling than having someone in your life to experience all of the adventures and adversities with. Being lonely is not to be envied by anyone. If you are not self-centered and have patience go for it. You won't be sorry.

Well it depends on a few things. For one has this person ever been married before? If they have I would say that's a good thing because they know better to make a marriage work. They are more experienced in marriage. More mature about things.

My uncle (he is now 70!) is getting married in 2008 to a woman 18 years his juinior. He has had 2 committed relationships and 2 children before him. She has had a husband and 2 children. They were absolutely perfect for each other when they first met! I think it is a truly great thing if you are willing to do it!
