You have to go inward! Get a screwdriver and push! It might help to dig it out some from the top. You'll likely get some cork in your wine, but the true problem of getting the wine out of the bottle will be solved.

I have been there multiple times: One suggestion as stated is pushing the cork through the bottle, I typically use a screw driver and a piece of wood, be careful. Also, call a neighbor or friend and ask if they have one, this works pretty well in many cases. You can also use an awl if you have one, you have a 50-50 chance of pulling the cork out using this device. Good luck! Doctor K

This is extremely difficult. Power tools will help. Specifically a drill, a screw and channel locks.
You can try tapping the cork through to the inside of the bottle or you can dig a hole in it with a knife. You will need to filter the cork particles out. A kitchen strainer will work.
I used a new type of cork screw the other night. It forces air into the bottle and pops the cork out.

do you have a screw somewhere? Like, a wood screw? If so, drive it into the cork with a screwdriver, until the head is about 1/4 inch exposed. Use a pair of pliers to grasp the head of the screw and pull. It might work, but it also might just rip out a part of the cork.

Hey, I saw a guy on a Science show hold the bottle horizontally with it's bottom against a solid vertical post (he was using a tree), and by banging the bottom of the bottle against the tree, the cork somehow came out....give it a try, you have nothing to loose. Just remember to hold a cup or something under the mouth of the bottle to catch any drippings or sudden outflow of wine.

I've done it, I pushed it inside the bottle,

Just be careful not to chip the glass with whatever you are using.

lol i had the same problem the other night , we all had a good laugh because we used a small piece of wood with a screw coming out of it, it worked really well, my brother even said we should sell these things.

When that happened to me, I just held the bottle up over my mouth, and broke the bottom with a rock.
