PSEPHOLOGY and not 'cephology'

Psephology is the study of how people vote in elections.

Greek "cephos" = stone, "psephos" = pebble.

If "cephology" is a word, it means the study of stones and rocks.

"Psephology" is a word, pronounced the same as cephology would be, and it means the study of election processes. The earliest elections that we have any records of (in ancient Athens, I think) were conducted by each voter tossing a pebble into one jar or another.

According to Bartleby, there is no such word. It could have to do with the study of cephalopods - which include: octopus, squid, and cuttlefish.

Perhaps you mean capology, which is similar to neology - the act of inventing a word or phrase.
