Actually, emo stands for "Emergency Off" and it came about because Emergency Off was too long to print across the button, hence the name EMO. It originated in 1937 in the US Army.

It's a fashion style based on music. Emos are thought to have lip piercings, skinny jeans, dramatic make-up. Emos are thought to self harm, write poetry, and be depressed but more often than not are very normal and happy people. I'm goth and i get called on Emo so i wouldn't let it bother you too much ^^

emo stands for emotional.it is usually teenagers who are either not happy and are all sad and droopy all the time or kids who act that way to get attention.they complain a lot and are usually very sensitive. someone earlier mentioned that they're suicidal, this is not even close to true.emos just see life in a negative point of view and make a big deal out of very small things.

Emo is a slang term for fashion, attitude & music. It started in the early 1980's by washington DC bands.

it short for "emotional" it is usually considered a music genre, but is also used to describe people that have so much emotional pain
in their lives that they are cutters, then people go and make a stereotype out of it, which i thikn is so rude, if someone is that sad over something, then the last thing they need is being made fun of.

It originated from "Emotional" from bands that had a lot of emotion in their music. Its a bit silly though cos all music has emotion.
