Why does the question of race still exist today. Why hasn't the human race reallized that focusing on race is a waste of time and doesn't help anyone. I pose this question to black white and everyone in between the COLOR spectrum of the HUMAN RACE.

I certainly am of the opinion that it does matter, even though it certainly should not, and the "race" in power in much of the globalized world is to a degree implicity involved in allowing this trend to continue. First, to be fair, i must admit i fall far short of doing my part in trying to fight this divide, and it would take much of energy worldwide to fight this trend.

When you talk about "the scheme of things" as a sociology major i must refer you to live chances and social location. The social location you are born into (either into an old royal family or into a poor gang ridden neighborhood in East L.A.) will great affect your life chances (the oppertunities which are granted to you in terms of resources that you have no control over at your birth). If we are being honest with ourselves, in this globalizing world, we certainly dont have equal life chances in many different areas, and within this framework, race is still heavily involved.

Being fortunate, i was born into a middle class suburban american community where i had the oppertunity to sit in small classes and get instruction and develop a habituse (a set of habits and attitudes) which may help lead me into academia later in life. By comparsion, children born in many African countries are first dealing with how to survive infancy and continue to fight diease and malnutrition, issues i certainly will not have to deal with. On a base level, i think if we are being honest with ourselves, we must admit race still plays a heavy role in international relations, and within countries, states, cities (whatever level of analysis you prefer). I would certainly pose the question, if africa was composed of primarily caucasian or perhpas even asian individuals (as at least in american asians are seen as the model minority ethnicity) the American relief effort for Aids would not be focusing on Abstinence only methods of prevention.

The elements of white privilige which are felt within the hot areas of the globalizing world, are often ignored and as a result unchallenged. Certainly i am not trying to argue that this is anywhere near the right way to live, but i get to stand on my soapbox and try to convince people that (at least intellectually) until we realize the racial divide which is present on a mulititude of levels in our world, we will not ever fight or change it, and we will not create a society that is either colorblind or recognizes and appreciates the vast and wonderful differences that make up the human condition.

You know, it should not be any importance in the whole scheme of things, but the fact is, it is. There are people today who hold grudges for past events that our ancestors either did or had to live through. I am from the south and grew up listening to racists remarks and hearing and seeing racism from both black people and white people. It is such a stupid thing to have to witness! The fact is, all our hearts are created the same way and all of our souls will either end up in heaven or hell. There are so many more problems this world faces, racism should not be an issue for anyone!

It shouldn't be an issue and the only thing that is truely important is that people are "right minded." Every race is mostly comprised of good people who only want to better themselves and their families. But unfortunately through the media, we often only see and hear of the losers. People who generalize the bad ones into the entire race, become the racists. And the one's with little self-esteem who consider themselves to be kept down by the others, have a distorted reality and limit themselves. People of all races have the potential to rise to greatness and better humanity , or stoop and limit themselves by not growing mentally & spiritually - this is proven everyday.

All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action.

Blacks shouldn't use their color for pity points and whites shouldn't discriminate. It's who we are and how we're qualified; neither of which has to do with race or color. If only people could realize the wisdom of the above (and last) speech our Prophet Muhamad pbuh gave from over 1400 years ago we'd've been much better off. Peace and blessings.

Race is actual. even nonetheless it incredibly is too difficult for idiots such as you to realize what actual race is. White isn't a race. Races in Europe are: Scandinavian, Celtic, Mediterranean(Roman, Spanish, Greek), Slavic, Germanic, Uralic, Nordic... etc. yet i think it incredibly is waaay to difficult which you will comprehend that each and every person Europeans are no longer of an analogous race, yet they are organic.(mixed everybody is excluded) each and every of those races have diverse looks. In some you will discover small transformations, in some lots, and in some you won't be able to tell a difference.

The reason why race is something people still consider relevant is that it is the first thing they see about a person. Then, everybody has their generalizations about particular races even though most of these are wrong. It has, is, and always will be an issue among people.

When it comes down to it, race is not the real problem. It is culture. People associate race with culture and that is not the right way to judge. I like people of all races. I do not like people of all cultures. For example, I don't want to be friends with Muslims as I think the religion/culture is anti the American way of life. I dont care what the race is, but I do care about culture. We have sub cultures here in America. For example, people in San Francico have a different culture than the people in Houston TX. I don't care for most people from SF of any race but like most people from TX. Make any sense to you?

It depends on your values.

Racists think race is extremely important, they use it to define themselves in contrast to other races, to imagine they are superior. It's not true; it doesn't make sense to believe we are better than anyone else based upon our race, but it makes racists feel better about themselves and that is all that really matters to that sort of person.

Racists are inherently weak cowardly people who gang together for strength because they lack the courage to face the world as independent individuals of moral strength and character.

When racists setup belief systems in which they place themselves at the pinnacle of creation with everyone else subordinate to themselves the people they attempt to vilify or subjugate based upon their racial or ethnic characteristics often suffer unfairly, so race also becomes important to people who are attacked because of the color of their skins.

People suffering from racial prejudice may naturally exagerate the importance of race to themselves when they seek to improve how they perceive themselves by forging a stronger, more beautiful, and more powerful racial identity for themselves. So to say that race is not important would not only be a lie, but it would demean those who make an effort to improve themselves and others like themselves by enriching their racial identity.

We may wish to hold an ideal that one day race will not be important, and we may strive to live our lives in accordance to that ideal. We may live up to this noble goal by accepting everyone around us with unconditional love regardless of race, ethnicity, gender or lifestyle choices. When we love, honor and respect all people as equals then race ceases to be important.

If only the governments would admit that there are civilizations on other planets and they have visited ours. People would unite as 'People of the Earth". What race or religion a person is would become meaningless.

It is certainly a sad part of our world. My wife is black and I have gotten a lot of problems due to my color-blindness. But she has taught me one thing. Even in a country where things are MUCH better than they used to be, and being from the Detroit area - I see so much predjudice. Even people who are not "racist" see color in a way that makes me think our humanity has a ways to go.
