I got a "cheapie" divorce from the newspaper; never saw a lawyer, they sent me all the paperwork and you do it step by step. As long as you don't have any joint property, custody problems, it's really easy this way. The ad stated:

Yes you can file for divorce in PA...but not sure if you'll need a lawyer. I filed for divorce here in California and went through the county court system (took classes) didn't need a lawyer did all the paperwork etc myself. But I don't know if they'll allow that in PA.

Depends on the state laws, but often you can obtain a legal kit, a "Do It Yourself" Divorce for around a 100 bucks or less. I did it from Texas similar to your situation. It's a lot of work filing stuff though, and depending on your time, it might be a lot easier and cheaper for a Lawyer to do it for you if your time is limited.

you can file for divorce there but once you are married, all property is joint property. you might be in court soon so you may at least want to talk to a lawyer

No, you need a lawyer to file for divorce and you need to do it in the state you were married in.

I love mike's answer however, if she has not made anything of herself in 20 years. File for divorce YESTERDAY!
you might have something that she could take from YOU!

Why divorce her? Wait a few years until she has some assets you can take.
