As an example, take the set of numbers: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13.

The "mean" is what most people call the "average".

To calculate the mean, you add all the numbers and divide by the number of numbers: (1 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 5 + 8 + 13)/7 = 33/7 = 4 5/7.

The "mode" is the number that occurs most frequently. In this list, the only number that occurs more than once is 1, so 1 is the mode. If none of the numbers repeat, there is no mode: 1,2,3,4,5 has no mode. There can also be more than one mode: 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 4 has two modes (2 and 3).

The "median" is the middle number (or average of the middle two numbers) when the numbers are arranged in increasing order.

In the example, the numbers are already arranged in increasing order, and there are 7 of them, so the 4th number (3) is the middle number and therefore the median. If there are an even number of numbers, you take the average of the two middle ones: The median of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 is (3+4)/2 = 7/2 = 3 1/2.

mean is the average of the data, sum all data and divide by the number of elements

mode is the most frequent value

median is the number tah divides in two the list of values if you arrange them from the lower to the upper.

for example if you have 1 6 8 5 7 5 4, you arrange them as 1 4 5 5 6 7 8 and the mean is 5.143, the mode is 5 (appears 2 times) and the median is 5 because when you arrange them it takes the center place.
