My daughter got her first tooth at four months. Babies whack themselves alot as they try to learn to control their hands. It can be scary, but sometimes funny. Just don't give him any hard toys until he figures out his hands!

My son will be turning 3 months in a week. He rubs his eyes alot and sucks on his fist. It's only half voluntary. They aren't quite sure how to work there hands on there own yet but are getting there. Just make sure you keep his nails short so he doesn't scratch himself. As for teething. My son started a week ago. There is even a tooth that is almost pushed through. "The Average Child" starts teething at about 6 months but all kids are different. There are some children that have even been born with teeth already so...Good luck and enjoy!

Definitely. I have a 4 month old and he already has 2 teeth. He has been teething since he was 3 months. Now the both teeth are fully cut through. I think he is getting another one too because the drooling is so excessive and he also does what your son does.

My son grew to become into 7lbs 2 a million/4 oz..at delivery. At 4 months he grew to become into around 13lbs if i'm no longer incorrect. All babies are distinctive. I had a tricky time getting my son to consume for the longest time.

my son started at 4 months and had all his teeth by the time he was a year old, he was realy good about it though he never realy cried so we didnt notice till we put our fingers in his mouth because he was drooling alot and acting like a puppy by trying to chew on his hands ie:hitting hisself in the mouth they dont have very good hand eye coordination yet.

It could be. Perhaps you should contact his pediatrician about this if it concerning you. I have a four month old too but she isn't doing this. My second started to teeth at five months. Sounds to me like perhaps he has discovered his hands and his motor skills just arent formed yet.

Yeah, it's a hand-eye coordination thing. If you want to see something really funny, stick something on his nose that he can see, and watch him try to grab at it. Just make sure he can't fall off of furniture when you do this, because they tend to fall over backwards. It sounds mean, but it's not.

Yes it is possible that your baby is getting teeth...I don't know if that is why he is hitting himself, but babies can start getting teeth at any age. Some are even born with teeth.
