I lived outside the states before I was charged through the state of Virginia, which I returned to see what the charge was about. Well never the less I was given 10 years, suspended all but 18 months, which I was released Nov 1 2006 and given 3 years probation. The question is........Can I leave the country without them knowing, in which i plan not to return at all, as I was planning on this before I received the charge. My passport is valid, would they know if I left? Do they check people before they leave the country seeing if they have warrents or are on probation?

The charge was "obtain money under false pretence" over $200.00 I had broughed money from some one, in which they found out I was outside the states and just acted without asking, in which the court system took me leaving the country away of not paying it back, I was only out of thr states for 4 months when I had to return, yes I was paying the money back.

Normally there is no check for warrants when leaving the country, but usually there is a requirement for you to check-in to a probation officer while on your probation. You should contact your probation office and advise them of your intended plans. They may be able to work out some plan where you can be removed from the probation or somehow it can be transferred if it is to another area governed by the US.

My suggestion is to do the right thing by not leaving without notice... the repercussions could be much worse later on, if and when you decide to come back... especially if there is an unplanned return for some reason.

I don't know that they would know that you were leaving the country. With the DHS what it is now...I couldn't even tell you what information they have available. But I would be pretty certain that if you left, they wouldn't notice until you were already gone.

You are on probation..but there are different types of probation.

Talk with your PO. I am sure that they will tell you your options. More than likely (or so I would think) they would let you go. I mean if you want to leave the country...why would they make you stay. One less person that they have to worry about.

Probation officers do check up on you, so I guess the answer would be Yes. They will know when you leave the country. Since you plan to leave and never return, that constitutes a violation of your probation and you can be sent back to jail for that.

Talk to your probation officer, inform him/her of your situation and ask for permission to leave the country, if your probation officer won't let you leave the country, then just stay until your probation is up and then go.

It would depend upon how you leave the country, and if you needed to use your passport anywhere for three years. Since this is going to be an issue in most places it's probable that your passport will get scanned somewhere, which would show up. If you were going somewhere that didn't require a passport, then they wouldn't know. However that would mean that you couldn't fly on a commercial aircraft, take a cruise ship, check in with customs and immigration, or cross borders where it's required to show your passport. Good luck

They don't normally check, but it is NOT worth the risk. Try talking to your parole officer for advice. It wouldn't want to see you go back to jail.

No, do it. They won't mind. If they were worried about you they would have left you in prison.
