It's only the greatest thing ever. You basically play the role of general manager and draft and manage a team. You start a certain amount of quarterbacks, halfbacks, wide recievers, tight ends, kickers, and defense. The amount varies by the league you're in. It's really fun. You should do it next year.

The greatest thing to happen to married men!

But to answer your question in detail....fantasy football is a program run by various websites to allow an individual to own players and compete against other owners in the same league over the course of the NFL football season.

FF starts off with a draft. A draft consists of all the owners and several rounds of "drafting" players to their team. This may be done automatically or live online. Same player cannot be drafted by 2 different owners, for example: Peyton Manning can only be owned by one person in the league.
The positions to draft (depending on the league settings):
QB - some leagues start 2 QB's
RB - most leagues start 2 Running Backs
WR - most leagues start 3 Wide Receivers
TE - most leagues start 1 Tight End
K - most leagues start 1 Kicker
DEF - most leagues start 1 Team Defense

Once all the players are drafted to team members, teams will compete against each other from week to week, starting in week 1 of the NFL season. This usually lasts for 12-13 weeks. After that, there is a playoff period which can range from week 13-15 or 14-16 depending on the league settings. All schedules follow the NFL schedule.

Points:
Depending on the league, points are given to individuals for different categories. For example a Touchdown = 6 points, so if your QB throws a TD you get 6 points for him. Yards may also give you points. For example, every 50 yrds for a QB = 1 point, so if your QB throws for 200 yrds. and a TD you get 10 points.
Each player on your team can make points depending on what he does during the game and how many points the league allows for it. Usually the point system is as follows:
Touch down (any position): 6 points
Yards for QB: every 50 yrds = 1point
Yards for RB: every 20 yrds = 1point
Yards for WR: same as RB

Stats are all real time and coincide with what a player does on that day. If your Running back had 160 yrds and 2 TD's on the day he would possibly receive 22 points for the day.

You can also add and drop and trade your players, during the course of the season.

Hope this helped. If not, you should try and play one year. You will get a better sense of what it is like and hey, you may even win!

It's where you draft your players and face other people and their teams. There is 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, TE, K, and a Def(plus back-ups) Points are scored by how well your player plays in real-life. The matches go by week-to-week. Well that's all I got.
