Check the jumper settings on the back of the drives and be sure to select the CD drive as the "Slave". Leaving it to "CS" which is 'cable select' isn't always the best thing. At least in my experience... Most optical drives are set to "Master" by default.

So once again, make sure your OEM optical drive (DVD burner) has the jumper set to "Master" and the aftermarket drive is the "Slave".

No guarantees but it should work.

All the best and let us know if it worked for you. Thanks.

I'm not quite sure why you bought a second DVD burner, but that aside, you need to set the master or slave status of your drives.

There are two IDE connectors, primary and secondary. Each one can support a primary and a slave drive.

Usually your hard drive is master on the primary IDE interface.
You need to make sure that your DVD drives have a unique interface. Try setting the original DVD to secondary-master and the new DVD to secondary-slave. There are jumpers on each drive to set the right condition. Or you can use "cable select" to make the assignments by using a "cable-select" IDE cable.

need to configure the jumpers.

1 needs to be slave, and the other master - most drives come default as master so just refer to the website or manual to change the jumpers.
