Yeah, if you feel you need one then go for it. You could also talk to one of your teachers or a guidance counselor and see if your school has any type of tutoring program. I know most of my schools had programs where other students who were particularly bright in a certain area would volunteer as tutors. Your teacher may also be able to hook you up with one of the brighter kids in one of the classes you're having problems with if you don't know who they are already or you just need an intermediary for the initial meeting. Good luck, worrying about grades can be healthy and unhealthy, don't let it get the best of you because that's when grades head south.

The first question is: Do you think you need a tutor or can you raise these grades on your own? I don't know your grade level, but are there teachers who can work with you before or after school? You used the word "grades", so are you struglling in all subject areas or just one or two?
In my classroom, I allow students who don't score well on an assignment the option of re-doing it for a higher score. If they re-do it and score higher, I replace the lower grade. If they score lower, the original grade stands. Do you think your teachers would be willing to work with you on something like that?
If you aren't sure about your teachers or if they aren't willing to work with you, does your school offer any kind of "Homework Club" or Study Buddy that you could be a part of? All of these are options.
You're being really wise and mature in thinking about a tutor! A lot of students just tend to blame the teacher. I think you should explore the options I mentioned, but also talk to your mom about it. I don't know if she can afford it or not, but I do think it will go a long way in showing her that you are serious about improving in school. Good luck!

Realizing your problem is the best start and seems like you are on the right track. Now you can sit with your mom and ask her opinion. Also consider her financila situation so if she can not afford, may be you can work somethign else out. Maybe your mom can help you gradually or get some basic examples on your own and you can even get help here at yahoo site. What subjests are the one's you need helpw ith is the next step and then sit with someone to devise a plan of action. Good luck

yes,you can ask her fora tutor.Butr you should first talk to your teachers for suggestions about how to improve at the first place. then you can also talktoyour friends and classmates who secure higher grades for how they do well in their exams. You can get better guidelines from your contemporary classmates for they are having the same problem as you are.
