What can you do for a roommate who has not left the house for months, and barely eats and has no job? It's a touchy issue and I've tried a lot of things. But is there anyone who has helped someone through a game addiction?

Addiction, they want to play to get better at it and better equipment. So they continue to play ignoring other things etc etc. WoW is not so bad if they play it in moderation, but addiction is common in games like this. They don't want to admit that they are addicted either, so they get moody and shut themselves in to play it all the time..I know a couple people like that.

lol. the ppl that i know of that are into WoW are not very intelligent, but they do ruin their lives playing it too much. the three ppl i am speaking of have an average grade in hi-school of 60-70%. they also have no social life to speak of. one USED to be my friend, but our relationship is down the drain because he never does anything besides stay in his house.

there are two plausible reasons: MMORPGs are addictive, and the ppl who play them don't have very many friends outside of the internet.

Most of us have some funny interests apart from our creative skills and when the opportunity for fulfilling the interests appear, we run toward them.... I know many of my brilliant friends, cousins and colleagues given to gambling and drinking ... which much affected their carreers and domestic peace...

The system of formal education unfortunately does not inculcate the desirable values in the youth to turn their lives into one of success and joy with right choice of conduct and means of enjoyments that would not addict them ...

I remember how a veteran statesman of old (Mr.C.Rajagopalachari of India) used to criticise the then popular veteran Indian PM, Mr.Jawaharlal Nehru (who nurtured socialist and atheistic ideologies though he would not speak hurtingly of theists) for his policy of secular education in schools... Mr.CR said that secularism did not mean irreligion but equal opportunity to all religions.. And that education without appropriate training in the moral and religious values was bound to produce a generation of hard hearted people not sensitive to finer feelings ...

Many Indians now feel that the grand old man (as CR was then called) was right ... There should be such instances in other countries as well...
