Let me start out by saying I've NEVER seen an ugly girl or woman - ever! Everyone has beauty and it radiates from inside. :-)

As an aesthetician let me start out by saying that it helps to have the perfect canvas before you start "painting". My suggestions would be to put the bulk of whatever "beauty $$" you may have into the best skincare you can buy. The earlier you start taking excellent care of your skin, the more you will appreciate it down the road when your friends are gritching about dark spots, peeling, uneven skin tone and wrinkles. You, my dear, will be flawless! See your dermatologist at least every year and especially if you have any problems. That way you can nip them in the bud. In addition to good skin care, remember to stay out of the sun or use a good sunscreen with an SPF of 40 or higher, drink lots of water and get good sleep every night. Now, onto the fun stuff!

I would think by the time you start middle school or junior high (12 - 13) it would be fine to start using enough make-up to accentuate your natural beauty. As I mentioned before, spend your money on skincare because there are some GREAT drugstore products out there that are cheap but of great quality. Milani is wonderful as is Rimmel, Covergirl (mascara), and MaxFactor.

Try Covergirl's LashExact Mascara in Very Black to accentuate your lashes. Rimmel's lip gloss in Snog or East End Snob are gorgeous! If you prefer a lipstick, you might try Naturelle or Halo Shine On Sheer Lipsticks by Milani. For blush Milani also makes colors like Coffee & Cream and Luminous which are great.

If you are say...under 15 or so, I wouldn't think you'd need a foundation. Girls of that age usually have lovely skin. But as teen age hormones kick in some intervention and cover-ups need to be factored in. This is one more area where I would invest a little more money. Again, consider foundation as a primer on the canvas of your skin. It is what all the bright color (shadows, lipstick, etc. will go). I would try Laura Mercier. They even have a tinted moisturizer that has buildable coverage and would be perfect for young skin.

Anyway, hope that helps! If you need any more info, please drop an email.
