I think you are talking about Mokona. Does he have a round jewel on his forehead? If yes, that is probably Mokona you're talking about.

First thing that popped into my mind was also Makona, but it would help if you were a bit more descriptive, there's a lot of "lil cute white anime ball things" out there =P
