sure, why not? After all, personalities and their compatibility are based on things like culture, upbringing, religion, etc. Not on birthdays.

I have tried a cancer and gemini relationship twice actually three times if you count the cancer that was born on a gemini cusp. And nooo it never worked more than two months. Geminis can't make up their minds about anything and they always claim to be an individual. I'm a cancer and I know I have security issues. And being with a Gemini was an exercise in walking on the wild side. But they are far to flighty for a cancer to handle for long.

Cancer and Gemini:
This is a very popular pairing. These two meet and feel destiny from their very first conversation. An intense physical attraction could lead to a sexual relationship or perhaps a marriage.
The key to making this work is both must to be willing to forgive and forget. One key issue here is Gemini’s need for space and variety at all times. Gemini is an air sign and also a mutable sign who can multitask, whereas Cancer focuses on one person, place or situation at a time. Cancer may mistake Gemini’s need for outside stimulation as a sign of sexual rejection and Gemini will get irritated by Cancer’s emotional showdowns and become agitated quickly. Gemini may flee and will pursue outside interests while Cancer will withdraw and become moody.
On the flipside, Gemini can banish Cancer blues while Cancer provides warmth and security to Gemini. Either way, this attraction is if anything, a very good learning experience for Cancer and an emotional experience for Gemini. That’s fine and well but down the line, problems can and will arise. One day, one of you could go to the store and never return.

not for long.
they will start off as great lovers, but the Gemini will lose trust with the Cancer tries to overpower the relationship and assume the lead role. The Gemini will love the Cancer, but won't respect them. The Cancer will be confused because the Gemini will never been satisfied with love, but no respect. The Cancer will make several attempts to fix the issue but will end up turning his/her back once the ego is bruised.
.. that will cost you 1 cent.

Sure why not. but they are not the best match. This comment goes not only to you but everyone else here...
There's more to it than your sun sign, you actually have another 11 signs depicting your person, each influencing your behavior. The second most important sign is your Moon sign. Per example, a Gemini ascendant Pisces and Cancer ascendant Aries can be quite a sparkling match.
So really there's no straight answer. You just have to live it and see what happens.

Yes I think so. I am a Gemini and my other half is cancer. We've been together for a few years and are planning our life together. Between Gemini and cancer I believe we neutralise each others negative traits. Frueds theory is that opposites are better together than 2 similar people.

If they're BOTH dumb enough to think that astrology is real, then yes. But if only one of them believes, then the intelligence gap will be too great between them, and the relationship will ultimately fail.
