Bad teachers.

It's true. If you are bored in class than the teacher is not doing what is optimal.

Of course, maybe you are bored because you are so far ahead of everyone else and find the class too easy? Unlikely.

Student's often become bored in the classroom for a varity of reasons, which are usually individual rather then collective. Some students may have learnig disablities that lead them to not concentrate in school. If you have a student that has a disability like this, you can have some one on one time with them and go over assignments so that they may better understand what you are teaching. You can engage the student in variety of activities that will help them stay focused in class. If you see this particular student daydreaming in class, walk over in front of that students desk casually, the student may being to notice what you are saying. This is called cueing a student. In addition, a student maybe able to learn what exactly is making them become bored, or unfocused. They may see that they are staring out of the window or at something hanging on the wall. The student can learn to self-monitor their behavior.

In additon, if a student does not have a learning disability; then maybe you should re-evalute how you are teaching. Ask your student what it is they are interested in and incorporate those interests and hobbies into your lesson. By doing so, you are engaging your student and also demonstrating how what is taught in the classroom can be applied and is utlimately useful in everyday life. Talk to your students.

Lastly, perhaps you can organize some hands on activities or group/peer work. This will help students to be more engaged in an activity. Also, see if you can possible make something in the classroom a competition or game. That often helps students to want to learn, b/c they are hoping to become the winner in the end. Just make sure if you do that you don't make the competition too cut throat. You want to highlight that hard work equals success and not the negative aspects of competition.

Preformed and pedantic teaching "models". Not understanding that the gifted bore the fastest. Not understanding the ones who do not understand at all. Not seperating the curriculum to suit the needs of individual groups of students.

Best art teacher I ever had, gave me my own space and materials. I will never forget this man. He gave me tools and space, and an objective cirtique of my work. That is all any fine mind needs.

The solution is to recognise this, Im a 58 yr old artist, I had three teachers total in my life, that understood me as an individual. These three were enough.

Answers: Look Deep. Sometimes gifts are reluctant to emerge, they are fearful. It aint a bit easy being "gifted", on any level, you can be called a "nerd" at best....and a "freak" at worst.

It irritates people when we seem to know a lot. That is just sad.

Smart people will be the ones to make the greatest strides for society. Its a shame how we treat them.

It all comes down to how the teacher presents her lesson. It should be prepared in a way that keeps the student focused and busy by attracting attention to the subject at hand. Keep the interest going with different things going, illustrations, questions, teaching aids, having students participate- there's lots you can do. Do this and believe or not, students will still be wanting to continue even after the bell has rang. Have them love what they are doing, show them how the subject is so interesting by how you present the lesson.

The main cause is usually a teacher who presents the material in a boring way. As to answers, feedback from the students can often show a need for a refresher course in teaching techniques to work toward a solution. Hope this helps.

I think bored students are ahead of the game & already know the material OR they got stuck with a teacher that's not passtionate about the material being taught. Now granted some things we need to learn are just plain boring, but as a teacher it's our job to make it presentable in appealing way to the audience (whether it be a 2nd grader or senior in high school...) I teach little ones, so it's not to hard to keep their interest. I just act like a fool & they stay tuned in. I love my little ones :)

Boredom is caused by teachers who think they know it all!
the Solution is for teachers to individualize their instruction to fit each class and the learning styles within that room. Is it easy? Heck no, but students will get more out of it!

The lack of enthusiasm from the teacher. I think involving students, hands-on will keep the boredom away. Participation, Involvement is the key!
