Can anyone recommend an inexpensive (less than $120 a night) hotel in Athens that is clean and in good location (walking distance of major sights)?

We're sending our parents there so we would like it to be as nice of a hotel we can get while fitting our price range. The cheaper the better, but we'd like it to still be nice.

Thanks, I appreciate it.

You can make a reservation to the Stanley Hotel in Karaiskaki square. It is a very nice hotel downtown.
Don't be afraid because the centre of Athens is really safe all the hours.
Outside the hotel, there is a metro station. In 3 minutes from there you are in Acropolis, taking another line you are in 3 minutes in Syntagma square where the parliament is and the historic centre. The numbers are real.

I hope I helped you!
Have a great time here!

I could suggest the ATHENS GATE, just opposite to the Zeus Temple, very close to Acropolis (15 mins walking distance), to Syntagma Square (10 mins walking distance) and 5 mins from Plaka, the old district of Athens. Many means of public transportation.
If this is not what you are looking for, try the www.gtp.gr, section Accommodation and I am sure you will find what you are looking for.

Good luck!

Last year we stayed at Hotel Tempi. Make sure you ask for a room with own bathroom. We had a little balcony and could see the Parthenon from it. It was a very quiet, convenient location but there was no lift so make sure you book on the lower floors. Very clean and comfortable. I am 62 years old, but all ages stay there.

periscope hotel is in Kolonaki, a nice area, much nicer than the areas recommended in other posters. It is a little more expensive, but it is worth it. It is near the underground, just a bit uphill. Go to www.periscope.gr
