Ashlynn is a very pretty name. I just gave birth 8 weeks ago to my first girl (she has five brothers), and when I found out that she was going to be a girl, Ashlynn was the first name that appealled to me. Then I created my own Ashliana. All of my children have irish names, so I undertand where you are coming fromthere. Look up the meaning and see if the meaning has show appeal to you. There are a lot of irish names for little girls, and you can also create a unique name from using an irish based name. Have fun with it and run it by family. But remember its your choice. I like Ashlynn, and I like my own creation Ashliana. The combined meanning=A vision,A dream, and gracious. Good luck, I'm sure you'll find an irish name that is as special as to your heritage

I love the name, but only spelled the correct Irish way- Aisling. Actually, I think it's okay spelled Aislin, minus the 'g', just because it'll make pronunciation in the US much easier.
Spelled Ashlynn, it is just a butchered Irish name. I think, especially if you are Irish, you should respect the traditional spelling. It's much more beautiful in it's original form.

Ashlynn is Irish, and it means Dream. It is also one of my favorite names.
Because it's so close in spelling to Ashley, I've tentatively decided not to use it when I have kids, but I may change my mind. It is very pretty!
(My other favorites, just a sampling here, as I love names, are: Meara, Lorelei, Aurelia, Genevieve... I could go on for MUCH longer, but we all have other things to do, so I'll be going now.. :P)

It's a pretty name and I do like it. I would probably spell it Ashlin or Ashlen or Ashlan.
However, I don't picture a brainiac, only a cute, ditzy cheerleader or dancer type.
Also, it's one of those names that look great written out, but phonetically it just doesn't roll off the tip of the tongue. It sounds forced when you say it and not natural.
