How do I update my ipod with songs from my computer without getting rid of the ones on there already?

I have taken it off auto sync, I now understand this part, now Ive put some songs from my bros computer and now want to add some more songs from my computer. How do I put more songs on it without getting rid of the others?! I cant find the songs that are on it already to save them somewhere, this is really frustrating!! I hate iTunes!!

Yeah, I realise that, but I cant get to the songs that are on there already to put them into a playlist! I cant find them.. its crazy!

That's because you don't understand how the iPod download works.

The iPod download replaces everything that's on your iPod. To keep the songs you want on your iPod, you need to create a download songlist. Simply keep the songs you want to keep on that songlist and replace the rest - then download.
