I AM GOING TO COLUBIA COLLEGE CHICAGO NEXT YEAR AND I PLAN TO MAJOR IN FILM AND A MINOR IN WRITING. IS THERE ANY STEP I CAN TAKE RIGHT NOW OR AFTER I GRADUATE TO MAKE IT IN THE FILM BUSINESS. I KNOW THERE IS NOTHING ELSE FOR ME, FILM IS MY ONE AND ONLY PASSION.

I'm the same way - a senior in college film major and english writing minor. The best advice I've ever heard (and havent followed as closely as i should) is to just get your hands on a camera and shoot things on the weekends. Doesn't have to be great, just practice your skills. Do little skits with your friends.

That and try to find an internship somewhere, unless you get really lucky you'll be bringing everyone donuts and coffee during the internship but you'll move up from there.

Making contacts is very important, and work on a demo reel to show off your skills.

It might help if you had some of your brain removed.

Just kidding. I work in the film industry and I believe you already have the most important requirement when you say it is a passion. You have to love it. But I warn you, it probably will not love you back.
