how young, is too young for a promise ring? my boyfriend of over a year and a half has just recently given me a promise ring. and i was extremely overjoyed with it.

i'm 16 and hes 18. we've liked eachother since grade 7- (ha, like that really matters, i just thought i would share it with you) we're in grade 10 and 11 right now.

anyways, i accepted it.
do you think it was foolish? or alright?

A promise ring is just a ring given between 2 people as a symbol of commitment, who are not ready to be married. It doesn't matter how old you are, it is not a promise of marriage, only a promise of commitment.

It's not foolish to accept it, but it is rushing it if you think you'll be getting married before you finish school. I had a promise ring when i was in grade 11

My daughter is 16 and her bf is also 18. He gave her a promiss ring already. There is nothing wrong with that at all. Its a symbol of love and being a couple. Just remember you're just 16 and have alot of living to do yet.

I think it is very sweet! I had a promise ring when I was 17. But please don't think that's the answer to get married right after High School. You guys have your whole life ahead of you, enjoy it. Go to the dances, go to the prom. After High School go to college or whatever you would like to do or become. Good luck!

I think that it is okay to accept the ring as long as you don't rush things. Don't giver up your future and wait until you are BOTH ready before you get married...maybe even go through some premarital counseling. Things can work out if you both continue to communicate and never take things too fast.

I can just tell you that a met a guy (I am in the same grade as you) and he said he would wait forever for me and he told me over and over that he loved me... yah, that did not last. He just, changed. This may change. but that is still sweet of him! Hey, it may not and a promise ring is pretty cool- sounds like he is willing to wait until marriage for you!

Promise rings are awsome to get, i had one when i was 16 too! i was extreamly excited to get it, we had planed to get engaged on prom night and everything, we broke up after four years, but we went to prom together. so i guess the lesson here is dont let it get to you head! but i think it was deffently an alright move! and all the best to you and your guy
