Will we have the technology to do something or to run somewhere. Its five more million years from now that the sun will exhaust its hydrogen fuel and will become a white dwarf. At the rate of technology surge that we have today, its impossible to know how far we might be in the future. How far can technology go?!?!

approx after 5 million years....and it is long enough time to find a way outa here......
consider that the last 100 years humanity has done big steps in technology. I presume that within 150-200 years we shall have solved the problem of time travelling, therefore space(distance) will no longer will be problem any more.

The sun will start expanding into a red giant in about 5 billion years. Not five million (whew! that was close!). It will engulf the earth and be nearly out to the orbit of Mars. This is inevitable. It will then collapse into a white dwarf star. By this time humans will have been extinct for billions of years. Technology aside, there is no other place for us to go. We are inextricably tied to this planet. The same moelcules that make up your body also make up the rocks, trees, air, water, soil and every other living thing. Finding another planet with the exact same chemistry as the Earth is next to impossible, about as likely as tossing a coin and having it stand on edge ten times in a row.
