lol.. these first two answerers have no idea what they're talking about! i return MAC makeup all the time, and they absolutely will take it back! they have return policies in place for just the reason you're talking about -- you simply bought the wrong color. and most of my makeup i return for a refund, because i don't like it (because it broke me out, or i just don't like the product, etc...) -- yours is a totally valid reason and happens all the time.

fyi, if you bought the product at Macy's or Nordstrom, all you'll need is the product in its original packaging. both those stores have a bar code attached to the product with its own sticker (so you don't even need the receipt). also, you can return it anyime (but to be sure, i recommend not waiting longer than 6 months).

at a MAC store, you will need the receipt and you have a 30-day deadline from the date purchased.

one more thing -- if you want to make sure you buy the correct color this time, go with a bare face (or wipe your face clean once there), have the salesperson apply a few shades to your jawline, and actually walk outside in the sunlight (bring a mirror). whichever one "disappears" into your skin is your shade.

let me know if you have anymore questions... and Good luck! :)

MAC has a great exchange policy. I myself had a similar situation.
I bought a foundation to replace an old one. The new foundation wasn't the same kind as the old one. The bottle and the formulation was different. When I got it home the color was slightly lighter than my actual skin tone. I went to exchange it for a different color. Not only did I finally find the right color but I exchanged it for the foundation I went looking to replace in the first place-Studio Finish Matte.
And yes they do have a recycle program. Hold on to your old MAC products they have an exchange program where when you give in 5 empty product containers and they give you a free lipstick.
And don't let nobody tell you differently!

I am sorry but they dont.. I my self had that problem before, it is best to go your self and try foundation on your skin before you buy it, and make sure you go out to daylight and see if you like how it looks... remember, if you have yellow undertones try NC´s, if you have pink udertones, try NW´S... after the letters there is a number... 30 35 37 40, the larger the number, the darker the hue...

I would go and explain my situation, and ask to have my true color checked by one of the make-up artists, and ask to exchange the "orange" color for your true skin tone.
