My girlfriend and I both have a PSP and a couple of the same games. We want to play each other and have tried connecting while both on the same game. The techy at the game store said we could do this without having WiFi at our house. It isn't working, how do we do it?

If You Want To Play Against Someone In The Same Room With A Game, You'll Generally Need The Same Games To Play..
Looks Like You're Already Have That..

Now, You Don't Need Any Additional Items To Play With Another Person Nearby You.
Just Make Sure The Game Supports 'Ad Hoc Mode', It Should Say If It Does On The Game UMD Box (bottom back of the box, the technical info on the game are in small colored squares)..
If It Does, Check On The Game's Menu For Multiplayer..
Note That Some Games Are Different In How Multiplayer Works And How To Set Up A Game, So Check With The Game's Manual On How.

If The Game Doesn't Support Ad Hoc, You Can't Play Wireless Multiplayer..

The Only Time You'll Need A WiFi Is When The Game Supports 'Infrastructure Mode'. This Lets You Play Online With Other Players Or Simply Uses The Wireless Internet Connection To Download Additional Items Or Put Up High Scores..

Another Tip: If The Game Box Says 'Game Sharing', That Means That The Game Can Let The Another Person With A PSP But Without The Same Game As You Play Wireless Multiplayer By Temporarily Downloading Game Data To The PSP, Much Like The DS's Single Card Multiplayer..
Only Few Games Support This Mode, However..

One Last Tip: Remember To Put Your WLAN Switch On.
That's The Switch On The Left Side Of Your PSP, Opposite Of The Power..
