i cannot seem to find out how to turn my laptops externa speaks off so i can just listen though earphones, please help.
Ive tried just putting headphones in but external speakers still play.

Go to your sound controlls by ur clock on the lower right side by ur clock and click mute

Lower R. corner, click on the audio speaker icon ( or go to the settings under audio in accessories/ entertainment) There you can mute the sound system.

wow when you plug in the headphones, the speakers are supposed to turn off. take it back to the place where you bought it.

Are you sure you're plugging them in to the right jack?:
