Make sure to ask them if they checked their shelf for the video. I'm an ex-employee and I know that they can check your rented barcode number with the number on the boxes that are on the shelf. Sometimes in the mornings it can be a little crazy and movies get put back too early, most of the time when this happens they are sitting on the shelf. Also, they wouldn't have rented it to another person because the system will flag the video saying that it hasn't been checked in yet. Hope this helps!!!

As an Ex - manager of blockbuster, I know very well what you are going through several of the answers have good advice.
first go to the store in person and talk to the manager, if that doesn't work ask for the district managers contact number and call that person. it may take some time, these issues usually get resolved when the store does an inventory and discovers the title has not been checked in properly. but if you go with the manager out to the floor and make them look, the title is sometimes found. good luck! and the answer about not renting from blockbuster... very good advice..because if the title is not found your contract that you signed to become a member states that they can charge you for the movie. they also have the right to place unpaid accounts to credit reporting agencies

How can you win a dispute with Blockbuster?
Stop renting movies there.
If they really insist on trying to make you pay, definitely talk to the manager, not some clock-puncher who has no power to bend rules anyway.
Bring up how long you've been a customer without any similar problems before. If you actually pay, make sure you cancel your membership.
If it turns out that they DID make a mistake by not scanning it in, you should still threaten to cancel your membership. After all they accused YOU of THEFT, because of their mistake. That is pretty darn inexcusable even among friends. Blockbuster are not your friends.

First go to the Blockbuster in person with the date you turned the movie in and the time. Ask for the manager and have him/her go with you to check to see if the game is on the shelf. If it is, then maybe the employee forgot to scan it back in. I had the same problem with our local library and that's what I did to resolve the problem. If it's not, then ask them to check to see if the game is stuck somewhere in the night box where it may have been overlooked.
If that doesn't work then write to the company with all the information, and request a resolution. Be firm but polite.

I've had this before, but it turned out my son hadn't returned them!!! If you returned them yourself and you know for sure that they were deposited, then contact your local Better Business Bureau and file a complaint. From their website you can file directly and it will be submitted to your local BBB who will deal with it. Companies aren't too keen to get complaints through the BBB, they oversee a LOT of companies:
