I already took my lights down today outside, due to a storm is suppose to be coming, and I wanted to get them down while the weather was still cooperating. I put battery operated candles in the windows on New Year's Eve to light the way for the New Year,it is just a tradition I started for myself a few years ago and I personally like it.

I keep the lights on until the first week of January. As for actually taking them down, I usually leave them outside until the weather is mild enough to do so since some decorations usually get buried in the snow.

Christmas isn't over until the 6th of January, so it's kind of silly to take down decorations before then.

I usually keep the lights lit until the 6th, then they're off for a week, and I turn them on again for the 14th (because that's my birthday). I don't turn them on again after that, but I don't necessarily take them down until later. (Sometimes much later, I'm ashamed to say.) It's a matter of finding a Saturday when it isn't raining, isn't too horribly cold, and I'm not expected elsewhere.

I think you have until around January 8. After that it looks a little tacky. If you can't get lights from around the roof down at least remove the lawn ornaments and refrain from turning the remaining lights on.

My outside lights have nothing to do with Christmas. They are winter lights!!

Tree enters on the 24th of December, and departs on Jan 1, as do all lights and decorations. A week with a fire hazard in my house is plenty. And Im ready to move on.
