Do you remember that during the summer of 2001the only news we got had to do with shark bites, a kid who was too old to play little league baseball and the whereabouts of Gary Condit's missing girlfriend? There was almost no legitmate news that whole summer.

Do you remember the big hoopla that summer concerning Pearl Harbor?

Did you know that President Mubarek of Egypt called the white house 3 times to warn about the attack?

Did you know that Israel kept their people out of the WTC on Sept 9,10, 11because they were sure the attack was coming?

Can you give rational explanations for the above occurrences? Serious answers please, not the usual putdowns

At that time in history, an attack or an imminent threat was necessary for the US to start or enter a war. (those were the days, eh?) There is much evidence that invading and occupying Iraq was on the drawing board from day one of this administration. Ignoring warnings of an impending attack, allowing one to happen, could provide a great casus belli. This Machiavellian administration could not have expected such a devastating attack, rather, they likely anticipated another Cole-type incident or a perhaps a hijacking and crash with the loss of 100-200 lives.

This explains Bush's reaction in the Florida classroom. The enormity of the destruction and loss of life stunned him. His guilty knowledge kept him in his seat for 8 minutes, weak-kneed with eyes a-darting. How odd was it for him to spend hours and hours in the air immediately after an attack which used planes? Aides have made improbable excuses that Bush was worried about an attack on Air Force One. Then why did he take several trips in it? Could they have schemed then rejected the idea of a faked attack on Air Force One as a cover or diversion from Bush's culpability for the real attacks?

That's pretty speculative, I admit. But the fact that Rumsfeld rolled out plans for bombing Iraq at the first cabinet meeting following 9-11 is well established.

No rational explanations. All your arguments point to a conspiracy. Who knows? Deception has many layers. Conspiracies masterminded by powerful people or organizations are naturally well-planned, so deep-layered, and does not lend themselves to easy analysis or discovery by ordinary guys like you and me.

You may be right.

After all, to the conscienceless, what's a few thousand deaths if they gain the world?
