with the war?
I disagree with the war too, but the soldiers asked for Star bucks and were refused! I was just curious because I had not seen any questions on here about it.

This was on MSNBC and the Don Imus show and he said he was going to stop going there. Other articles on the Internet say this is all fiction. I just think that MSNBC and that show would not lie about it. I think they would have gotten their facts straight, don't you. I believe this to be true.

Well, this is the first that I've heard of Starbucks or any other company doing this. However, I know of Starbucks' reputation for being a responsible corporate entity, and if this is their way of protesting the war, then not only will I not boycott them, I'll seek them out and take my limited amount of business (I simply can't to go out for coffee that often) directly to them. I'll do that despite the fact that there is a franchise of another very good, major coffee house across the street from me.

I've been boycotting them for years simply because you pay an arm, a leg, set up a mortgage, sell your car, and give up your firstborn just to pay for a cup of coffee there.
Starbucks' stinginess to the troops just gave me another good reason to snub them.
After all, the troops are not in control of where they go or whether there's a war or not. Why punish them for something they have no control over? It's like denying a kid some Christmas cookies because she was born in a broken home.

Truth is Starbucks does supports the military. What happened was a Sgt. asked Starbucks to donate coffee and the company contacted him and said it's against company policy (which they sent him a copy of). The Sgt. later apologized to Starbucks for his misunderstanding. Employees of Starbucks do receive a free lb of coffee a week and many send it to the military personnel.
Here's the Sargent's letter:
Dear Readers,
Almost 5 months ago I sent an e-mail to you my faithful friends. I did a wrong thing that needs to be cleared up. I heard by word of mouth about how Starbucks said they didn't support the war and all. I was having enough of that kind of talk and didn't do my research properly like I should have. This is not true. Starbucks supports men and women in uniform. They have personally contacted me and I have been sent many copies of their company's policy on this issue. So I apologize for this quick and wrong letter that I sent out to you.
Sgt. USMC

I make my own Star buck coffee and it costs less. I never go there. I do not have 4 bucks to buy a cup of coffee.Sorry to hear about the story and it is a trick for the company to force the soldiers coming home for Star buck coffee.

Yes..just because they disagree with the war doesn't mean they should have any dislike for the soldiers....If those soldiers did't volunteer to be soldiers, then our country would need to draft people...and then those people against the war may be out there, or their kids could be out there....So regardless of anyone's opinions of the war, they should be grateful that the soldiers are volunteering themselves so that THEY don't have to be out there in Iraq getting shot at, instead they get to be safe in America working for Starbucks! Selfish bastards!

Do you have some sort of link for this info? I have heard nothing about it...
Thanks
Edit: Just as I suspected. Please, people, don't just automatically believe everything you read in your email in box. Do a little research.
If you must boycott Starbucks do it because of the prices, because the whole anti-war, anti-troops thing is BS.

Isn't America great? We enforce our constitutional rights (freedom of speech), but once a large corporation speaks up against the government and their actions, we are quick to judge. God bless us! I haven't made any care packages, which I easily could have. I am sure soldiers would like a care package, but I will not support something I do not believe in. The men and women over seas went willingly, they chose to leave th luxuries of home behind, and sacrifice for their country. I think it's ludicrous that they would even ask for Starbucks. They're at war for goodness sakes. I cant afford Starbucks, or any other coffee house brews for that matter. If I ask Starbucks for a years supply of coffee do you think they would give it to me? Doubtful. Bottom line: they are at war, not summer camp. They should worry more about their agendas, and not designer coffee.
