Probably. They will start making robots, and they will take our jobs, and we will have no money, unless we help sell and make the computers. But I really think that it is possible for computers to overtake humans.

There are some who argue that it is impossible: that the human brain consists of some functions that are immaterial i.e. an intangible soul that is not subject to physical laws. Those who agree with this then would not believe that machines can replace humans completely. An example is the japanese game, Go. The best computer simulated opponent plays at only an average level, as opposed to the best computer chess program--Deep Blue? or its successor, which can beat world champions. Why so? Because Go is a game of creativity. Psychologists have found it hard (so far) to model creativity in the brain.
But then there are those who believe that the brain is a complete computer, entirely subject to physical laws. Neurons are analogous to electric circuits.
So, take your pick.

There are 2 questions here:
Can machines become as intelligent as humans. The field of AI (artifical intelligence) would say yes. The principle is in place, the problems to solve are getting fewer.
Will they want to rule over us? That has nothing to do with intelligence. It is a human desire that allows certain human to rise above and have a wish or desire to rule. It is not a intelligent option. There is a very old agruement that the "best" rulers in the world would only be those who do NOT have any desire to rule. They alone would be able to rule without bias or pre-concieved notions.

Can "machines" overtake humans.
Well, the automobile is a machine and I sure can't run as fast as my automobile so I guess that machine can overtake me, and perhaps, even you.
Now then, as to your follow-up statement. Anything is possible. The key for the survival of mankind is to keep control of the power source.

In a sense our technologies have influenced our physical development.
We do not live in nature or by nature anymore. Our bodies are developing slowly because of living under different circumstances. As we depend on our technologies working for us, I think eventually we will lose key features which had helped us to survive in ruff nature circumstances.
I feel machines have and will overtaken us in this sudle way.
