My mom is making things hard...as usual. I have enough money for a cell phone upgrade, and I want one. It is getting time for a new phone. I asked my dad, and he said it was ok with him, since I am using my own money, but my mom, says I can't. I don't know why she cares, since it doesn't cost her a penny, but oh well. My question is this- how can I get my mom to say ok, without making her mad? I also might add I am 13, so I kinda need permission. ☺

there isn't more to life than cell phones, when you are 13.:)

try being really sweet to your mom, do what ever you can to help out and not complain, and not asking her about the phone, and after a week of niceness, and not asking, she may be mellowed out about it, the week of niceness may show her that you are responsible enough to get the upgrade... if that don't work, and your dad is OK with it, have him take you to get the upgrade.

I just got a cell phone for the 1st time this xmas, I was the last of my friends to get one. My dad just wouldn't give in! But about a month ago I sat him down and talked it through with him. Before that he had just automatically said no, but when I showed him that I was capable of discussing it like a mature adult we agreed on some "hypothetical" guidelines and then I caught him researching cell phones on the internet! The next thing I know, I have a cell phone!!! So basically, I think you should try talking to your mom about it. Ask her why she doesn't want you to upgrade your phone. Also, it all depends, are you upgrading your phone or your plan? Because getting a new model shouldn't be a problem, but if you're upgrading your plan, then maybe she doesn't want you to be spending more time on it. Or emailing people from it, or whatever. Just figure out what her problem with it is, then show her that you can responsibly handle it without screaming or yelling.

Well u know even though its ur money i dont think ur mom cares about the money, i mean where did ur money come from? wasnt it originally hers? and she gave it to u for allowance? so why dont u just ask her politely i mean i am 13 i have a cell but my mom pays for the bill, and i dont think she would let me get an upgrade either , but its not even about the money so jus talk to her and tell her that u really need an upgrade but if u dont need it i dont hitnk she;ll let....

Sorry, but I agree with your mom. If the cell phone you have now works then why waste more money just to have a flashier new phone simply to keep up with our society that is pitiful in placing such value on material things. Save your money or do something meaningful with it.

Maybe she thinks you need to spend your money on something else more important than a cell phone upgrade?? Just a thought, but I know that isn't your question. You want to know how to MANIPULATE (always a bad quality to have)her into saying yes to what you want, but instead maybe you need to understand WHY she doesn't want you to have it in the first place. Maybe she wants to teach you something.
P.S. And the thumbs down come from those who think life- lessons suck. Good luck.

Your mumis only acting in your best interests. Cell phones rake up money. Do you really need a cell phone? Most schools will not allow them. If you are driven to most places then you do not really need one unless youare using public transport and miss a bus. If you are that desperate I suggest to your parents that you would only use in times of emergency.Do not expect your mother to fork out money for a new phone.Learn to take responsibility.

I think that you need to give your mom the benifit of the doubt and try and talk to her about it, civally. I am sure that your mom has a valid reason for it..
I agree cuz I am 27 and my cell is my lifeline.. I understand the need for your phone.. just be happy that you have one.. a lot of kids can't have one..

i think of it may be terrific in case you're saying no longer something in any respect. it may depart a damaging impact with whoever you tell. If there is an accident you threat anybody understanding you place on woman undies. attempt different kinds of male undies. have you ever tried boxers. I even have considered boxers that are somewhat silky.

you should sit down with your mom and talk to her one-on-one and speak calmly and with respect. Don't yell at her or instigate a fight. Figure it out then discuss other possible options or ways of going about the situation.
