She is in love and only considering moving in with the man (21 years old) at this time. He has proposed to her a couple of times. He works as a shelf stocker at a sporting goods store and lives with his uncle and brother. They are from Guatemala. She is from a large upper middle class Irish family

Tell her to try him first by asking him to legalize his coming into the country, so that he won't be deported later, which will ruin her family life and to finish schooling. If he does that for her, then perhaps you can agree with their relationship, seeing his devotion to her but you are suspicious of all the vast differences between them, education, citizenship and immigration status, economical status and cultural differences; and some sign of his being devoted and constant with her will help relieve some of your doubts. Perhaps, the time will cure her from any rash plunging.

I think you should tell her that if this doesn't work out she should not count on support from you. For example, if he ends up taking all of her money and booking back to Guatemala and your daughter comes crying to you for some cash to pay the rent, just give her the heave ho. Tell her to get a second job at McDonalds or something. If she wants to marry a Guatemalan illegal, she has to accept the consequences. Now I'm wondering what she looks like if she has to settle for a Guatemalan illegal. Maybe he does really good landscaping on the side when he's not stocking shelves.

No one can understand people who are really in love. But, in this point, you must counsel your daughter well if she's out for her decision. In times like this, many foreigners marry the nationals in order to be legally documented in that country. It might be that the guy will just use your daughter, more so that he's an illegal alien. If he's honest with his love towards your daughter he should not take any action that would impair the image and bring disgrace to your daughter and family, for true love can always wait, even processing the legal documents for immigrants.

This will sound hard to do, but, I'd call Immigration and have him reported.
I wonder if he asked her to marry him just so he could become a LEGAL citizen.
There are too many illegals here now.
Her salary will out do his, so they will mainly rely on HER salary.
He don't have an education, he dont' have a good paying job and he's Illegal.
I pray she don't get pregnant soon!

Slap her in the head and ask her what the hell is she thinking. After all the hard work she did to get where she is at and then get stuck with burden like that. She has worked to hard to lower her standards.Encourage her to set higher goals for herself.Getting hooked up with him would be a ball and chain around her leg, nothing but a liability.

Hope she doesn't. If she's of age, she can do what she wants.... What should you do? Point out to her that marriage is a common ploy for illegals to gain citizenship. She'll have to be married to him for 3 years, for him to gain citizenship.... as I remember. After the ceremony, typically they disappear, and can't be found.(But he's married, right???) IF you (she, in this case) can't find someone, she can't divorce him. Then she can't marry anyone else unless she can prove he is dead, after she has spend a ton of $$$ trying to find the guy.... Hope she's smarter than that, hon....

Oh my god. Hell no. She has such a future. He is just using her to get citizenship. if they were to get married it wouldn't be long before 4-6 other people were sleeping on the floor in her living room. You must stop this at all costs. Your first step would be calling "La Migra" also known as immigration. Good luck.

I'd call immigration office or the u.s. marshal's service right now and tell them his name if you know it, the address where he lives, any license plate number of vehicles he drives, where he works if you know it.

Demand his immediate arrest, they will deport the bastard.

Then after his arrest, i'd B*tch the living crap out of your daughter for even considering having such contact with this criminal.

I would encourage the relationship. He would be handy around the house.

Report him and have him deported. Him and his whole illegal family.
