- Pencil (4B +) & Eraser
- White paper (make sure it does take inks) a thicker weight of cartridge paper is probably better than sketching paper
- Letraset Tones (if you want to color using tones, like on black and white comics)
- or Colour inks & Brush (if you want to ink your drawing to make effect like ) if you're not good with inking a better option is Designer Marker/ Pro marker in letraset terms. (make sure they are alcoholic marker) Because just like ink with these markers you can make tonal shades.

That should get you going =]

It really depends on what you're into. Some artists like drawing digitally by creating a sketch, scanning it, and then finishing the rest ( colors, shade etc) in photoshop. But if you like handdrawn, then buy illustration board ( usually 15''x20'') for comic artists, and lots of inking pens ranging in different tip size and make sure to buy the ones that don't bleed if you were to paint over them. Japanese artists enjoy using toning paper ( its a sheet of paper where you rub it and the shade will transfer-look it up) try copic color pens. These are the chose of many anime and manga artists. You can use any other medium you like, watercolorm acrylic paint, gouche, or keep it black and white if you're into that.

Well you might need this as your first supply:

Chris writes some great books on many subjects, in them is often a list of other supplies you may want to get and why you would use them.
