Personally, I'm here to have a good time with others. I do express my honest opinion on serious questions.

Interesting....

I do think a lot come here seeking validation...even though the already know the answer to their questions.

Me, I come here for one thing: My pursuit of the perfect cookie recipe.

I'm like you. If it's a funny question, that's one thing. But, if it's something serious or an honest question, I do my best to answer appropriately. People who ask questions in a serious manner are usually seeking serious answers, so I give them to them. Now if you ask me how to get the alien out of you nose, you know that won't be serious, lol.

Some people really want help. Others, yes, they're only after validation. Especially in the dating questions. This one girl was all "Well I like this guy but he's dating my best friend what do I do?" The answer is back the heck off, because she's your best friend and she's with him, but the girl gave best answer to "steal him from her, because if you like him that's all that matters." That's the wrong answer. But it fit with the asker's schema, so she picked that one. Sigh.

Lots of people seek validation. I've seen a lot of it in the politics section.

People hear and see what they want to, one of the truest things i've ever learned.

I am sure there is a portion who need that. Some just want to hear themselves talk, some just are bored senseless and some have a good sense of humor. Everyone has a different reason.

I'm usually here for fun. I've tried to ask serious questions, but there is always someone who doesn't take you seriously or puts you down. So I've learned to not ask those questions anymore and just have fun.

I think that there is an element of both of the things you said. Some people really do want help and some people just try to be funny.

A little bit of both. Especially validation, that way they feel secure in what ever they've done
